Vows That Wow — Maddie & Nolen
Set beneath the Spanish moss-draped oaks of Savannah, Maddie and Nolen’s spring wedding at Beaulieu Estate felt deeply rooted in the beauty of coastal Georgia while remaining effortlessly refined. Inspired by the softness of the coastal Georgia in spring, their celebration embraced layered greens, faded blues, romantic garden textures, and warm candlelit hospitality, creating a wedding day that was both timeless and inviting.
With the expertise of Emma Martin Events guiding the planning and design process, every detail was intentionally curated to honor the natural surroundings of the estate while reflecting the couple’s vision of an elevated coastal garden party. The result was a celebration that felt sophisticated yet approachable, blending Southern charm with thoughtful design at every turn. We cannot get enough of every beautiful detail.
A Love Letter to Coastal Georgia
From the moment guests received their invitation suite, the tone for the weekend was set. Soft sage hues, delicate script typography, and custom crest details introduced a design inspired by the landscapes surrounding the estate. An oil-painting-inspired liner featuring the marshes of coastal Georgia offered a meaningful nod to the setting that would soon host family and friends for the couple’s wedding weekend.
Guests arrived to a celebration that felt intimate and welcoming, beginning with a waterfront ceremony framed by Savannah’s iconic live oaks and continuing into an al fresco reception tucked beneath the property’s moss-covered canopy.
The estate itself played a significant role in the overall experience, providing a backdrop that required little embellishment beyond thoughtful design elements that complemented its natural beauty.
A Spring Palette Brought to Life
Throughout the celebration, florals by Sweetfield Flowers helped transform the estate into a romantic garden-inspired setting. Drawing inspiration from the season and the surrounding coastal Geaorgia landscape, the floral design featured an airy palette of blush, buttercream, peach, soft pink, and fresh greenery.
Rather than feeling overly formal, the arrangements embraced an organic, gathered-from-the-garden aesthetic that softened every space. Delicate blooms added movement and texture throughout the ceremony and reception, creating a natural elegance that felt perfectly at home beneath the towering oaks.
Maddie’s lace gown, featuring a high neckline and sheer detailing, reflected the same balance of classic romance and refined sophistication seen throughout the wedding design. Against the backdrop of Beaulieu Estate’s waterfront views and ancient live oaks, the portraits captured the quiet beauty that defined the day.
Dining Beneath the Oaks
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour complete with signature cocktails, illustrated bar signage, and woven textures that added warmth and personality to the celebration.
The reception unfolded beneath a sailcloth tent nestled among the trees, where guests gathered around a stunning king-style table designed to encourage connection and conversation. Soft blue patterned linens, woven chargers, and layered tablescape details created an atmosphere that felt elevated yet relaxed.
Sweetfield Flowers’ floral artistry remained a focal point throughout the evening. Low arrangements spilled naturally across the table, while delicate blooms and lush greenery softened each place setting. Overhead floral installations drew the eye upward, creating the feeling of dining beneath a blooming garden canopy while still allowing the beauty of the surrounding landscape to shine.
Candles and custom chandeliers added warmth and intimacy as the sun set, transforming the tent into a romantic gathering space where guests celebrated long into the evening.
Lessons Learned Along the Way
With less than six months to plan their wedding, Maddie says one of the most valuable lessons she learned was the importance of trust throughout the process.
“With less than six months to plan our wedding, one of the biggest things we learned was the importance of trust and teamwork. Bringing our vision to life was truly a collaborative effort, from dreaming up design ideas with my mom and sisters to trusting Emma Martin Events to take those ideas and execute them beautifully. The timeline moved quickly, which meant we couldn’t overthink every decision. Instead, we leaned on the people around us, trusted their expertise, and focused on enjoying the process. Looking back, that trust allowed us to create a celebration that felt incredibly personal while still letting us be fully present throughout the experience.”
A Quiet Moment Together
Among the many memories from the day, one stands out most to the bride.
“My favorite memory from the day was slipping away with Nolen at sunset for a quiet walk by the water. It was one of the few moments we had entirely to ourselves, and it gave us a chance to slow down, take it all in, and capture a few photos with Laura. Looking back toward the tent and seeing all of our family and friends gathered together was incredibly special. After months of planning, it felt like a chance to pause and appreciate the joy, love, and energy of everyone we care about celebrating in one place.”
Captured beautifully by Laura Anne Watson, the sunset portraits perfectly reflected the calm, intentional spirit that carried throughout the celebration.
The Vendor Decision That Changed Everything
When reflecting on the planning process, Maddie credits their venue as one of the best decisions they made.
“Our venue was by far the best decision (favorite vendor!) we made throughout the planning process. We knew from the beginning that we wanted to get married in the Lowcountry, and the moment we stepped onto Beaulieu, we knew it was the place. The property is incredibly beautiful, but what made it so special was how naturally it reflected the feeling we wanted for our wedding day: warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to the landscape around us. It set the tone for the entire celebration and made every design and planning decision that followed feel easy and intentional.”
That connection to place could be felt throughout every aspect of the day. From the waterfront ceremony and garden-inspired florals to the candlelit reception beneath the oaks, Maddie and Nolen’s wedding beautifully honored the landscape, the season, and the people gathered to celebrate alongside them.
Their Beaulieu celebration was a perfect reflection of Savannah itself; romantic, welcoming, timeless, and filled with effortless beauty.
