Kirby & Justin: A Garden Party Wedding on St. Simons Island

Kirby and Justin’s St. Simons Island wedding was the perfect blend of coastal charm, timeless design, and thoughtful celebration. Inspired by a “Lowcountry Nantucket Garden Party,” the day brought together classic white and green florals, subtle touches of yellow and peach, patterned linens, and a historic boathouse setting.

Set against the natural beauty of the Georgia coast, their wedding day was designed to feel welcoming, joyful, and deeply personal. From portraits on the water to welcome champagne and playful guest details, every moment reflected the couple’s heart for hospitality and celebration.

A Wedding Centered on Guest Experience

For Kirby and Justin, the vision was always about more than beautiful design. They wanted their wedding to feel like a true gathering of the people they love most.

“Our most important moments will be the small ones captured between us and with our nearest and dearest. Our main goal for our wedding is to celebrate, guest experience is at the top of our priority list and we want to make sure it’s a party to remember.” -Bride, Kirby

That intention could be felt throughout the entire day. Guests were welcomed into a celebration that felt warm, personal, and effortlessly elegant, with meaningful details woven into each part of the experience.

Lowcountry Meets Nantucket Garden Party

The overall design brought together the ease of the Lowcountry with the crisp, polished feel of a classic Nantucket garden party. Emily Burton with Emily Burton Designs described the day as “A timeless wedding bringing in some feminine touches and poppy pastel colors.”

Classic florals played a major role in the look and feel of the day. Arrangements featured lots of white and green with soft touches of yellow and peach, creating a fresh and traditional palette that complemented the natural setting beautifully. The florals felt clean and refined while still adding a romantic, garden-inspired softness.

Patterned linens, traditional blooms, and coastal-inspired textures helped bring the full vision to life. The result was whimsical without feeling overdone, classic without feeling expected, and colorful in a way that felt subtle and intentional.

A Tented Ceremony Beneath the Oaks

With the possibility of rain, the ceremony was set beneath a simple, clean tent that added to the charm of the day. Rather than taking away from the setting, the tent created an intimate and polished atmosphere beneath the moss-draped trees.

The ceremony design stayed true to the couple’s overall vision: classic, understated, and elegant. Natural greenery, white florals, and warm woven seating allowed the landscape to remain the focal point while still giving the space a thoughtful, finished feel.

Coastal Portraits and Thoughtful Details

One of the most memorable elements of the day was the couple’s boat portraits. The wooden boat added a timeless coastal touch and created some of the most beautiful imagery from the celebration. It was a detail that felt perfectly suited to St. Simons Island, blending romance, scenery, and a sense of place.

Other special touches, like welcome champagne and fun hats, helped create the kind of guest experience Kirby and Justin had envisioned from the beginning. Each detail felt celebratory and personal, adding personality without taking away from the classic beauty of the day.

A Historic Boathouse Reception

The reception carried the Lowcountry Nantucket garden party theme indoors with a beautiful mix of natural greenery, patterned tablescapes, candlelight, and soft floral color. Set inside a historic boathouse, the celebration felt intimate, coastal, and full of character.

Lush greenery and traditional arrangements gave the space texture and movement, while peach, yellow, and white blooms added a romantic softness to the tables.

Kirby and Justin’s wedding was a true reflection of thoughtful design and meaningful celebration. With a stunning St. Simons Island backdrop, a stunning coastal palette, and a focus on the people who matter most, their day was as timeless as it was joyful.
