Rachael & Dylan Levesque’s Savannah wedding was the perfect blend of romance and drama, layered with whimsical details and a vintage aesthetic that felt right at home in the heart of the city. Hosted at the iconic Harper Fowlkes House, the setting provided the historic and slightly haunting charm the bride envisioned from the very beginning.
“The bride chose Harper Fowlkes because of it’s historical and haunting feel,” said Jennifer with Swanson Signature Events
With warm October light, moss-draped oaks, and the timeless architecture of Savannah surrounding them, the couple focused on creating an atmosphere, not just an event. The result was a day that felt deeply personal, beautifully styled, and completely reflective of their love story!
Intention Over Perfection
When reflecting on the planning process, Rachael shared:
“One thing we learned from planning our wedding is that the most beautiful parts of the day couldn’t be planned at all. Getting married in Savannah in October felt like pure magic — the golden light filtering through the moss-draped oaks, the romantic charm of the historic streets, and the calm coastal air created an atmosphere that felt timeless and deeply meaningful. The town itself inspired us to slow down, embrace intention over perfection, and focus on creating a feeling rather than just an event. Looking back, the joy came from the quiet in-between moments, the people who poured their hearts into our day, and the way the beauty and spirit of Savannah made our wedding feel effortlessly romantic and completely our own.”
That intentional mindset carried into every design choice, from dramatic fall tones and vintage-inspired decor to thoughtful, meaningful traditions woven throughout the celebration.
A First Look to Remember
While every detail was beautifully executed, one moment stood above the rest. Rachael shared:
“Our favorite wedding day memory was seeing each other for the first time — a moment that felt completely still and unforgettable amid the excitement of the day. The entire ambience was vintage, whimsical, and deeply romantic, with the warmth of fall surrounding us and a historic venue that mirrored the timeless charm of Savannah itself. Everything felt beautifully intentional yet effortless, and in that moment, it felt like the magic of the setting, the season, and our story all came together at once. It’s a memory we’ll carry with us forever.”
From that first look to the final dance, the day unfolded seamlessly, something both the bride and groom deeply appreciated.
Jennifer Mullis of Swanson Signature Events shared the couple’s reflections:
“Bride’s Response: Having everyone there that they loved and celebrating with them. The food. The music. Everything was wonderful. The Bride was able to be present and enjoy the day. She loved the details, the decor, the scenery. The overall atmosphere.
Groom’s Response: How seamless the day went. The overall setting and the details, such as place settings. He loved seeing the vision come to life.”
A Planning Experience That Made All the Difference
A key part of that seamless experience was the expert planning and design by Swanson Signature Events. Rachael spoke highly of Jennifer Mullis and her team:
“Our favorite and most helpful vendor was our wedding planner, Jennifer Mullis with Swanson Signature Events. From the very beginning, she brought a calm confidence and creative vision that made the entire planning process feel seamless and enjoyable. Jennifer had an incredible ability to understand our style and translate it into something even more beautiful than we imagined, while keeping every detail organized and intentional. Beyond her expertise, she made us feel genuinely cared for — always one step ahead, endlessly supportive, and fully invested in making our day feel effortless and meaningful. Having her by our side allowed us to truly be present and soak in every moment. Her heart, talent, and dedication made a lasting impact on our wedding and on us as a couple.”
With Jennifer leading the way, every element, from ceremony flow to reception details, felt cohesive, thoughtful, and beautifully executed.
Meaningful Southern Traditions
Rachael and Dylan incorporated timeless Southern traditions that added both symbolism and fun to their celebration. Thirty days before the wedding, they buried a bottle of bourbon at the venue and returned on the big day to “unbury” it, a beloved tradition said to ensure good weather.
During the reception, they also included a cake pull during their cake cutting. The bridesmaids and the Mother of the Bride each pulled one charm out of the cake, with each charm representing a fortune or a well wish — a sentimental moment filled with anticipation and joy.
Elevated Guest Experience
The reception was lively, warm, and filled with thoughtful touches. Guests enjoyed incredible handcrafted cocktails by Shaken & Stirred Mixology, whose curated drink selections perfectly complemented the romantic, moody aesthetic of the evening.
For accommodations, many guests stayed at The Alida Hotel, offering a stylish and comfortable retreat in the heart of Savannah. Its modern design paired beautifully with the city’s historic charm, making it a perfect home base for wedding weekend festivities.
A Day to Be Fully Present
At its core, Rachael and Dylan’s wedding was about presence, being surrounded by the people they love and soaking in every meaningful moment.
From the dramatic, vintage-inspired design to the seamless planning and unforgettable guest experience, their October celebration proved that when intention leads the way, the magic follows naturally.
Rachael and Dylan’s wedding was not only visually stunning — it was heartfelt, intentional, and a true reflection of their story. From the vintage ambience to the quiet in-between moments, Their day reminded us that the most beautiful parts can’t be planned, they’re simply felt.
