Wedding Dance World: Your First Dance Deserves More Than a YouTube Tutorial
When it comes to wedding planning, so much attention goes into the dress, flowers, venue, photography, and guest experience. But one of the most meaningful moments of the entire celebration often comes down to just a few quiet minutes: the first dance.
For many couples, that moment can feel intimidating. Maybe neither of you considers yourself a dancer, or maybe the idea of everyone watching makes you nervous. That is exactly where Christina Patelidas of Wedding Dance World comes in.
Based on St. Simons Island, Georgia, Wedding Dance World offers a boutique wedding dance experience designed to help couples feel confident, connected, and completely themselves on the dance floor.
As Christina says, “the first dance is not just a tradition. It is two minutes — maybe three — where every person in that room stops talking, stops eating, and watches only you.” With the right guidance, that moment does not have to feel overwhelming. It can become one of the most memorable parts of the day.
Meet Christina Patelidas of Wedding Dance World

Christina has spent her life teaching people not only how to move, but how to feel comfortable and expressive through dance. She began dancing at just three years old and was choreographing for others by age eleven. Her professional career later took her across the world, including five years as a dancer for Norwegian Cruise Lines, five years with Crystal Cruise Lines, and five years as a showgirl in the legendary Siegfried & Roy Show in Las Vegas.
By the time she stepped off the stage, Christina had accumulated more than 4,800 performances on some of the most demanding stages in the world. But her heart for teaching brought her to a new chapter.
In 1999, she opened Christina’s Dance World on St. Simons Island. Twenty-seven years later, she is still teaching, choreographing, and helping students of all ages discover confidence through movement. Her studio is faith-centered, weaving together devotion, etiquette, and character-building alongside dance instruction.
That same thoughtful approach is at the heart of Wedding Dance World.
A First Dance That Feels Like You

Wedding Dance World is not about copying a routine from a video or forcing couples into choreography that does not fit them. Christina’s process is personal, intentional, and completely customized.
“I wait until I meet you. I learn your story. I find out how you move, how you laugh, how you hold each other. And then I build something that fits you — not a template, not something copied from a video, but a routine that is yours alone.”
Whether you already have a song chosen or have no idea where to start, Christina walks couples through the entire process. No experience is required, and perfection is never the goal.
As Christina shares, “Nervous couples are my specialty. Beginners are welcome. The only thing you need to bring is yourselves.”
From the first lesson, the experience is about connection. Christina teaches couples how to move together naturally, so when the music begins and the room gets quiet, they are not focused on counting steps or worrying about what comes next. They are able to stay present with each other.
More Than Just the First Dance

While first dances are a signature offering, Wedding Dance World also provides instruction for Father-Daughter dances, Mother-Son dances, bridal party routines, and group numbers. Christina can help create anything from a simple, graceful moment to a show-stopping dance floor experience.
One client, Sharon Fownes, worked with Christina while preparing for her son’s wedding in Italy. Afterward, she shared, “We nailed ‘Boogie Shoes.’ Got so many compliments. Thanks so much. Opened the dance floor.”
For Christina, that is the heart of what she does: helping couples and families create moments that feel joyful, memorable, and true to them.
