Lauren and Gavin’s Savannah wedding was the perfect balance of intention, creativity, and effortless style. Set at Hotel Bardo, their day felt elevated yet relaxed, with every detail reflecting not just how they wanted their wedding to look, but how they wanted it to feel.
From the start, Lauren and Gavin approached their wedding with a clear mindset. They wanted a day centered on connection, time together, and creating an experience that felt true to them.
Instead of spending the morning apart, Lauren and Gavin chose to begin their wedding day side by side.
“Gavin and I are truly each other’s best friend, and planned our wedding day very intentionally so that we would spend as much of it together as possible. We couldn’t imagine waking up without each other on the most important day of our lives and not seeing each other until our first look. So, we threw away tradition and stayed together at Hotel Bardo. The morning of our wedding, we had breakfast in bed, exchanged gifts, and read our vows privately to each other. It was such a simple and perfect way to start our day… just us sharing in quality time and reveling in the momentous day ahead of us.”
This quiet and meaningful start gave them space to fully take in the significance of the day before celebrating with their guests.
With the guidance of LM Events, every detail of Lauren and Gavin’s wedding came together in a way that felt cohesive, fresh, and personal. Their design blended soft romantic tones with playful, artistic elements that made the entire space feel layered and intentional.
From citrus-accented tablescapes to custom hand-painted details, the reception design felt elevated without trying too hard. Striped linens, soft peach and cream florals, and curated tabletop moments created a look that was both polished and inviting. Each element worked together to tell a story that felt unique to them.
Lauren’s bridal look was soft, natural, and refined thanks to Bride’s Side Beauty. Her makeup and hair enhanced her features in a way that felt polished without being overdone, perfectly complementing the clean lines of her gown and the overall aesthetic of the day.
The result was a timeless look that felt effortless and completely her!
Lauren and Gavin made intentional choices throughout the planning process, focusing on what felt right for them rather than following expectations.
“There are no rules for what your wedding has to be, except whatever you want it to be! Just because you normally see something at a wedding doesn’t mean it’s a requirement for yours. For example, we did a three-course plated dinner that included dessert, so we opted not to have a wedding cake. We chose not to have a wedding party so that our closest friends could spend their time in Savannah freely and just show up ready to celebrate us at our ceremony. We didn’t do a bouquet toss or play any slow songs during our reception because we didn’t want to pause the dance party. We even wrote the script for our ceremony, because we felt the traditional vows didn’t reflect our relationship and the commitments we wanted to make to each other. I would recommend to all engaged couples to take the time to truly envision their wedding day not just the colors or flowers you’ll use, but the experience you want to have. That’s what guided all of our decisions, and it’s what made the day feel completely authentic to us.”
Their approach made the day feel natural, relaxed, and genuinely fun from beginning to end!
While the day celebrated Lauren and Gavin’s love, it also honored the blending of their family in a meaningful way.
“Just as important as committing myself to Gavin was committing myself to his kids, Pierson and Adelaide. I gave each of them a special present and note the morning of our wedding, and I had a portion of my written vows dedicated to them. We incorporated their initials on our hand-painted tapestry and made sure they had Shirley Temples waiting for them at their dinner seats. I’ll never forget the night after our rehearsal dinner, Adelaide put her hand on my shoulder and said “Tomorrow I officially become your daughter.” It was so special to see that they both grasped the magnitude of the day and understood it was their day, too.”
These thoughtful moments added another layer of meaning to an already intentional celebration.
With the help of their vendor team, the celebration carried seamlessly into the evening.
“All of our vendors were fabulous and made our day easy and stress-free. We live in Birmingham and were not familiar with Savannah vendors, and our planner Lea got us connected to our dream team of local vendors. We have to give extra praise to DJ Cesar with Versamix. I have very sentimental music memories and wanted to curate the perfect soundtrack for every part of our day, and I was able to do that through the Vibo app he uses. It allowed us to select specific songs for every part of the day.”
“We had a very small wedding, and the only thing we were nervous about leading up to our wedding day was that the dance floor would be sparse. We had nothing to worry about! From the first song to the last, the dance floor was packed the entire reception.”
Lauren and Gavin’s wedding is a reminder that the most meaningful celebrations start with intention. By focusing on the experience they wanted to create, they designed a day that felt personal, relaxed, and completely true to who they are.
From a quiet morning together to a packed dance floor at the end of the night, every moment reflected what mattered most to them.
