Recently, our Wed Society | Savannah + Coastal Georgia members came together for a meaningful Wed Society Cares volunteer day — and our hearts are still so full.
We gathered at PACK’s Savannah warehouse, where our team spent the morning assembling weekend meal bags for food-insecure children across Coastal Georgia. From unloading supplies to creating assembly lines to placing handwritten notes of encouragement inside each bag, our members jumped right in and worked with purpose. Every bag packed helps ensure a child has access to nutritious food when school meals aren’t available — especially on weekends, when up to seven meals may be missed.
Why PACK Matters
PACK is a 100% volunteer-powered organization serving:
-
5,400 children weekly
-
42 schools and community centers
-
20,000+ weekend meal bags monthly
-
1,000+ additional children annually through PACK Cottage and PACK Boutique
With one in five children in Coastal Georgia experiencing food insecurity, PACK provides critical support that directly impacts a child’s health, behavior, academic performance, and emotional well-being. Sadly, there are still more than 2,000 children on the waiting list, highlighting how urgently support is needed. Just $200 covers weekend meals for one child for an entire school year.
Volunteering with PACK gave our members a hands-on look at the transformative work happening behind the scenes — and reminded us how powerful community action can be.
