A Celebration Full of Southern Spirit and Heart

From beginning to end, Maggie and Hayes’ wedding was a joyful reflection of who they are:  timeless yet full of personality. Every moment felt intentional and full of heart, capturing the warmth of family, the fun of friendship, and the effortless beauty of Savannah.

Playful morning moments with bridesmaids feeding goats in bright pink pajamas led into a heartfelt and absolutely gorgeous church ceremony, followed by an evening that unfolded like a true Savannah dream — candlelight glimmering beneath a clear-top tent, beautiful greenery and ceiling lanterns, and oak trees standing tall beneath strings of light. It was a day that perfectly blended refinement and romance, elegance and ease.

The Perfect Setting: HollyOaks on the Marsh

For their venue, the Maggie and Hayes chose HollyOaks on the Marsh, and their decision could not have been any more perfect. This venue is a beautiful historic estate known for its sweeping marsh views, oak canopies, and timeless Southern charm. Nestled on 18 acres, HollyOaks on the Marsh offered both grandeur and intimacy — the perfect canvas for a celebration that felt rooted in tradition yet alive with personality.

From the heartfelt bourbon dig to the glamorous open-air reception, every moment felt naturally at home against the beauty of Savannah’s landscape.

Design that Dazzled

The talented team at Harvey Designs brought the couple’s vision to life with lush arrangements in soft pinks, crisp whites, and delicate touches of blue. The florals complemented the bridesmaids’ colorful dresses and flowed beautifully throughout the ceremony and reception, creating a cohesive design that felt joyful, timeless, and completely full of Southern elegance.

Every bloom seemed to mirror the couple’s lighthearted energy — polished, elegant, and full of life!

Cocktails, Cakes, and Creative Touches

Guests enjoyed a signature bar experience from Shaken and Stirred Mixology, who crafted creative, handcrafted cocktails that became a highlight of the evening. The drinks were as stylish and spirited as the celebration itself — the perfect complement to the couple’s dreamy day.

Dessert also held a special meaning for the couple. Bride Maggie stated, “My mom’s side of the family is from Norway, and we’re from Minnesota — where many people have Scandinavian roots,” she shared. “We had two Norwegian wedding cakes, called Kransekake, that my Aunt Becca made, in addition to our regular wedding cake. It’s tradition for the bride and groom to pull the cake and see how many rings come off — the number of rings represents how many children you’ll have. We had three! We also used Norwegian cake toppers on both Kransekake.”

That personal touch, a nod to family and heritage, made the dessert table not just beautiful, but deeply meaningful.

The Calm Behind the Celebration

Behind the scenes, planner Sophie Longwater of Dapper Event Co. kept everything running flawlessly. With nearly all guests traveling from out of town, her experience as a Savannah native was invaluable.

“Sophie was my most helpful vendor,” Maggie said. “Our wedding was a destination for 99% of our guests — and for us, too. She had amazing local recommendations and was the most organized, calm, and helpful presence throughout the entire year of planning and on the wedding day itself.”

Her guidance and grace made it possible for the couple to simply be present and enjoy every moment — a true gift on such an important day.

A Favorite Moment

One of Maggie’s most treasured memories came right after the ceremony. “Hayes and I didn’t do a first look, so the ceremony was the first time we saw each other,” she recalled. “Afterward, we drove from the church to the venue in an old classic car — just the two of us. We talked about our day, the ceremony, and everything in between, while our driver kept honking and yelling out the window that we were newlyweds. It was a moment I’ll never forget.”

That ride — filled with laughter, joy, and just-married magic — perfectly encapsulated the heart of their day: meaningful, joyful, and entirely their own.

A True Savannah Love Story

From the laughter that filled the outdoor tent, to the soft glow of candlelight reflecting off the marsh, every detail of Maggie and Hayes’ wedding felt intentional, romantic, and beautifully Savannah. It was a day that celebrated connection; between families, between cultures, and between two people deeply in love.

Now, this unforgettable celebration will represent Savannah + Coastal Georgia as a national nominee for Wed Society’s National Wedding of the Year 2025, and we couldn’t imagine a more fitting couple or a more beautiful story to showcase our region’s incredible talent!!
