Erika and Nathan’s wedding was as timeless as their love story; One that began in Kindergarten and blossomed into a 7.5-year relationship before culminating in a heartfelt summer celebration in Savannah. With a guest list of fewer than 100 loved ones, their wedding was a small, intentional gathering that prioritized history, family, and fun.

“We are from Richmond Hill but love Savannah,” Bride Erika shared. “We wanted to take advantage of the city being walkable and use as much of the historical architecture as possible.” That love for the city’s charm set the stage for a weekend that was both rooted in love and full of personal touches!

Held at Soho South, both the ceremony and reception were filled with meaning. Erika’s uncle, who she mentioned has been a father figure to her, officiated the ceremony. The couple used Provenance to craft their ceremony together, opting for modern and inclusive elements like a community vow and even choosing to stand on opposite sides from tradition “so we could look at our guests.”

The celebration kicked off with a Fourth of July welcome party at Zunzi’s, followed by a rehearsal dinner at Husk, giving guests, many of whom traveled from out of town, a true taste of the Lowcountry. “For everyone but us, it was like a destination wedding,” said Erika. “We gave everyone a Lowcountry experience and went to great local restaurants.”

When it came time to get ready, Bride’s Side Beauty helped bring Erika’s vision to life with an effortlessly elegant up-do and makeup that complemented the summer setting and downtown vibe.

From start to finish, the day was packed with thoughtful DIY details created by the bride herself. “I DIY’d my bouquet, all the signage, the menus, bar decor, etc.,” she noted, bringing a personal, handcrafted feel to the decor. That creative spirit paired beautifully with Soho South’s eclectic, architectural charm.

Photographer Emma Smith Kirchoff captured every joyful, candid moment, from Erika and Nathan’s emotional vows to guests dancing the night away under twinkling lights.

Looking back, Erika said, “We really focused on all the family who supported us and making sure it was a fun event for everyone!”

A celebration years in the making, their summer wedding in the heart of Savannah was the perfect tribute to a relationship built on deep roots, shared history, and unwavering love!
